University of Rochester at Marketplace, Rochester, NY

When the UoR needed to expand and consolidate orthopaedic services they brought Cyril to the team for strategy and insight onto site selection, negotiation, evaluation of existing structures and facility planning. After a through evaluation of several sites, they purchased a site at MarketPlace Mall, a 1982 mall located at the center of Rochester. This $240,000,000, 330,000 square foot renovation and addition will be the largest off campus development UoR has ever made.

Cyril has also consulted with mall owners and medical centers in Dallas and Atlanta on projects similar to this and One Hundred Oaks where Cyril led Vanderbilt’s team to transform this dying mall into a vibrant healthcare and retail hub.

Converting a Dead Mall into a Healthcare Hub: Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks

As the owner’s project leader for Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks, Cyril envisioned the project, developed preliminary concepts and economic models, led the programming and architectural work, and was a key player in working with internal stakeholders, the community, the developers and the city. It is a great example of Cyril’s unique ability to find new opportunities is seemingly limited situations. Converting this deal mall into a vibrant, mixed-use facility transformed the neighborhood, and has become a model for redevelopment across the nation.
